Do You Have The Right Partners?

“No man is an island, entire of itself…” John Donne

No man is an island, and neither is a business. It doesn’t matter if the business is a large corporation, a small business, or led by a solo-preneur. Everyone and every entity needs relationships and partnerships to survive.

In these relationships, the question is – do I have the right partner? And there are questions that companies should periodically ask themselves to evaluate whether they are in the right relationship:

Where am I trying to go?

Does this partnership reflect my vision of my company?

Does this partnership positively affect my relationship with my suppliers and my customers?

Do my partners have any stances that I would be embarrassed for my customer base to find out about?

Am I ok with how my partner treats their associates?

Do I like to work with my partner? Do I get value out of the relationship?

If you’ve answered no to any of these questions, it’s probably best to rethink the relationship. You do not have to be held hostage by a relationship; there are options.

Make sure you are clear on processes and that you always have ownership of your data so that if you have to make a change, you can do so seamlessly. The last thing you want is for a poor relationship choice to hinder, or cause a riff in your business processes.
